Maximising a box project
The current topic focuses on optimisation, which it' s an exceptionally useful knowledge that helps we maximise the area or volume on a certain object, which in this project is a box. Firstly, my group is given with the size of the poster board that we must optimise. Secondly, we try to find the length, width, and height of the box that gives us the most volume from the poster board size of 18" x 14". Thirdly, according to the picture above box#1 results the most volume of 120.438 in^3. Fourthly, we would have to gather all the required materials to create a box based on the poster board size of 18"x14"; this step involves the longest duration of time. In addition, this step needs a lot of accuracy and neatness.
Throughout the project, a lot of teamwork and innovative thinking skills are involved. We try to separate the tasks to each of us, so that our project could proceed forward with much more efficiency. Being able to make a box from just a flattened poster board is quite challenging, which it really enhances our creativity in the way that we have to imagine how each fold would affect the folds after.
